Books

I will admit it! I am a cookbook junkie! I love all kinds of cookbooks and magazines. Every time I go to the bookstore, a thrift shop or a yard sale I can usually find a cookbook to bring home with me. As a result, I am always running out of room for my ever growing collection.

Where do I find so many gluten free cookbooks you say? Welllll, I don't! All of these are regular cookbooks that I find intriguing for one reason or another. I have really started buying cookbooks that are very specific or very old.

I have an old Betty Crocker cookbook of All-Purpose Baking that I found at a church rummage sale. It is a small golden pamphlet that was published in 1942 and cost 25 cents! It's fun to look at the photos and color pages. This particular one has pie baking instructions for three sizes of pies: 9,8 or 6" pies. I have not found that handy table anywhere before and I have read a lot of cook books!

There are many thrifty recipes because of the times in which these were written and the other great thing about old cookbooks is that Everything is cooked from Scratch! No boxed mixes, or at the least, very few were used. This is great for me, as I take regular recipes and convert them over to gluten free. It's also a great piece of nostalgia that I love to have.
